About Vicki Caruana


Currently a doctoral student at the University of South Florida pursuing a degree in Special Education: Teacher Education, Vicki has a wealth of experiences in education. Having taught in both public and parochial schools, taught at the elementary, middle, high school and college levels, worked with students in general education, special education and gifted education, conducted professional development for teachers, written integrated curriculum, and taught a variety of college level courses both face-to-face and online.

Vicki has also been a subject matter expert on education issues for radio and television and acted as a spokesperson for Nintendo products. She is also one of four parenting experts for Focus on the Family and one of the hosts of an international early parenting DVD series called Starting Points. Vicki is an inspirational and motivational speaker for teachers and parents and has presented workshops and keynote addresses at conferences for teachers, parents, and homeschoolers. Having homeschooled her own children through elementary school, Vicki has also authored 3 books for homeschoolers and written for a wide variety of publications.

Vicki has authored more than 100 articles, 22 books and been the founding editor for Take Out magazine (OSV). She has created online content for Focus on the Family and Scholastic.com. She has also done scholarly writing in the form of literature reviews and federal grant proposals (she helped secure more than 1 million dollars). As a researcher, Vicki has worked as a graduate research assistant for a number of well known professors.

Vicki has also worked as a ghostwriter and contributor to collected works in addition to marketing her own author-driven books. She loves to write and telling other peoples' stories is her passion. She has written personality profiles for magazines as well.

As an educational leader, Vicki has worked as a learning specialist coordinating the Early College Program at St. Petersburg College, been the founding coordinator of the Center for Gifted Studies at Dunedin Highland Middle School, and as a consultant to help school districts align curriculum to state standards. She has supervised teacher candidates in their final internships and mentored countless other beginning teachers in their early careers. Vicki is always on the hunt to find ways to help people connect to their passions.
